What is Magnethon?
Magnethon is a unique challenge that combines learning and competition in the field of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). It is designed for PhD students, researchers, and professionals who want to enhance their skills through hands-on experiments, data analysis, and collaboration with international experts.
Who can participate in Magnethon 2025?
Participation is open to teams from institutions and organizations equipped with NMR spectrometers operating at a magnetic field strength of 80 MHz or higher. Teams must appoint a leader who is a student or junior researcher without a permanent position.
What are the key dates for Magnethon 2025?
- March 31, 2025 - Teams registration closes
- July 31, 2025 – Teams receive all materials and guidelines.
- August 1 – October 31, 2025 – Teams conduct NMR experiments, analyze data, and submit results.

What is the competition’s main objective?
The primary goal of Magnethon 2025 is to determine the degree of substitution (DS) in (2-Hydroxypropyl)-β-cyclodextrin. Additionally, its concentration will be determined using the internal standard method, the external standard method, and artificial signals. The winning team will be determined based on the accuracy of their determinations.
Can remote participants take part in Magnethon?
Yes! While only one team member can participate in person, the rest of the team can join remotely. Participants will have access to discussions, data analysis, and collaboration opportunities through online platforms.
Are there any restrictions regarding the academic or professional qualifications of team members?
No restrictions apply. Team members can be students, individuals with a doctoral degree, or those in permanent job positions.
Can I substitute a team member if someone needs to withdraw or be replaced?
Yes, you are free to swap out team members as needed. Just ensure that one designated team leader remains as the primary contact for the competition.
How do I update the committee about changes in team composition?
Simply inform the organizing committee of any additions or changes to your team.
I didn't receive an automatic confirmation after registering. Is that normal?
Yes, that’s perfectly normal.
The registration confirmation will be sent later, once the initial registration phase is completed. If you successfully submitted the form, your participation is being processed.
